Students of African rural university joined by the URDT family and town council officials on 20th October 2018 cleaned up Kagadi town with an aim of improving sanitation standards of the area.

With a theme ‘‘keep Kagadi clean’’ the exercise left the Kagadi daily market, Iguru street and market street cleaned.

Ernest Kyahurwa the area chancellor and the speaker Kagadi Town Council said they will continue with the struggle of keeping Kagadi town clean.

Kyahurwa says it is within their plan to install and add on donated dust bin to all streets of the town.

He admitted that there is sanitation improvement and attributed this to relevant sanitation and hygiene campaigns.

Tom Omasi Aheebwo the assistant town clerk, said the exercise was in line with the vision of the town council and it has been an eye opener to the community and the town council authorities

The university secretary Jackline Akello said that students come up with an initiative and was embraced by the university management.

She said they have passion in a clean university and town council adding that they are happy with the town council official for the ideas.

Akello warn residents to always prevent diseases than incurring heavy treatment cost since health has an impact on wealth.

The ARU guild president Christine Anyige Ojok thanked the various stakeholders who participated and stated the exercise was a benchmark to the sanitation of towns in a move to achieve Vision 2040. 

Meanwhile leaders of Kagadi central market lead by the chairperson and secretary commended ARU students and URDT family for cleaning up the town most especially the market street and for donating to them the dust bins.
